"If you are not willing to risk the usual, you will have to settle for the ordinary."
- Jim Rohn
Starting a business is risky. Jim Pinkston’s journey began in 1989 when he pursued a new career in the financial services field, a decision which led him to Indiana in 1992. After five years working under a local credit union, he and a co-worker, frustrated by endless quotas and longing for independence, hatched a plan to team up and start a financial services company based on their experience, aptitude, and an honest approach to finances.
In 1997 the firm aligned with LPL Financial Services, the nation’s largest independent broker-dealer. “Working with an independent broker-dealer allows us to put the client first,” explains Jim. “We are not limited by proprietary processes or products. We get to focus on meeting the needs of the individual, one client at a time”
The business flourished, not through the sale of a particular product or advertising campaign, but by word of mouth. People were drawn to a business focused on the financial planning process.
Henry Hernandez joined Jim and the team in 2000. He left behind a position as a commodities trader to jumpstart a new career as a financial advisor. Henry wanted to walk with others through the process that positively transformed his life. Together, he and Jim and the rest of the team work together with each client. “It’s a collaborative process,” says Henry. “Every member of our team brings something to the table.”
In 2019 the firm changed its name to Lantern Global Advisors and affiliated with Private Advisor Group (PAG), a network of independent financial advisors and one of Barron's Top 100 RIA Firms *.
Although names change over time, the firm’s essence remains constant. “We’ve stayed true to the initial vision,” says Jim. “We are dedicated to our clients and to helping them navigates life’s challenges and achieve their goals.”
