Jim Pinkston is passionate about helping people pursue their life goals and advocating for financial health. He enjoys meeting new people, hearing their stories, and then crafting a financial plan specific to their individual interests.  "I often ask clients what the word 'wealth' means to them," Jim shares. "Clients’ distinct interpretation of wealth helps me facilitate a plan customized to them. I love helping people chase their passion with their money.”

 

Growing up abroad affords Jim a personal perspective of hard work, scarcity and wealth.  Jim was born to missionary parents and raised in Indonesia, a country made up of thousands of tropical islands. His parents boarded a boat in 1957 bound for Southeast Asia and served for more than 30 years.  Jim attended an international school and often would travel to other countries like Singapore or Thailand to compete in sports.  “I had an unbelievable childhood,” reflects Jim, “living among some of the most gracious, welcoming people in one of the most beautiful places on earth.”

 

At age 19, Jim moved to the U.S. to attend Baylor University and graduated with a double major in International Business and Marketing. Originally working toward a career as an international buyer, he was introduced to the financial planning process and decided to make a change in direction. He became a Certified Financial Planner™ and obtained his Series 7, 63 and 24 registrations, held through LPL Financial.

 

Now, with more than 30 years of experience in the financial services industry, Jim focuses on making the complex simple for his clients. This mindset, combined with an attitude of compassion, helps him formulate recommendations suited to individual situations in a realistic, financially-sound manner. “I get to listen to people’s dreams all day long,” says Jim. “That’s why I love what I do.”

 

Jim and his wife, Jill, have adult children and one grandchild. True to his international roots, Jim is enthusiastic about travel, especially with his family.   “We are an active family,” he says. “We love to explore new places, in the U.S. and abroad.  I haven’t been everywhere, but everywhere is on my list!”
